Biography

Steven B. Zelicof, MD, PhD, is a board-certified and fellow-ship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement, joint restoration and arthritis surgery. A practicing physician in Westchester since 1990, Dr. Zelicof founded Specialty Orthopaedics, PLLC in Harrison, NY. He founded the Joint Solutions Program and the Center for Arthritis and Total Joint Replacement at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where he also serves as Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The Joint Solutions Program was the first in Westchester County to receive gold medals in hip and knee replacement from the Joint Commission and has been re-certified this year for the third time.

One of the first surgeons to perform hip resurfacing as well as cementless knee replacement in the New York area, Dr. Zelicof’s academic affiliations include serving as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York Medical College and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill-Cornell Medical School. Dr. Zelicof has been recognized several years in a row as a New York Magazine “Best Doctor in New York,” and “Best Doctor in America,” Westchester Magazine “Best Doctor in Westchester,” and has received the “Most Compassionate Doctor” Patient Choice Award, among several other recognitions. He earned his medical degree and PhD in immunopathology from the University of Pennsylvania, and completed post-graduate fellowship training in arthritis surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, preceded by an orthopaedic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.
